Saving the euro is the wrong goal

"The Euro was, and still is, a good idea. Unfortunately it was mismanaged by politicians. Politicians being big spenders are not fit to rule money, our money. I wonder, isn't there a way of keeping politicians out of the game? For example, could we conceive a European
Central Bank and a single European Treasury managed by a team selected by the Universities and Economics Schools of high reputation and answering to them?
